An illustration for an article about the finding of the "missing link" fossil called Tiktaalik roseae. An amphibious fish that had wrist bones. The coloring came out rather bright and cheery in this. Isn't he cute?

Well, apparently Tiktaalik in Inuit means "large freshwater fish"... so I suppose he is. =)

Hmm. Well it seems there may be different interpretations of this word. I think you may mean "burbot" which is "shallow-water fish". Though I seem to remember finding references referring to it being a freshwater animals living in shallow streams. Could be wrong, though.
